Anolis scriptus scriptus

Anolis scriptus scriptus is the Turks & Caicos Anole. It is a member of a large family of lizards that are found throughout the warm parts of the Americas. They are closely related to the iguanas and basilisk lizards. Anoles can change their colors in a matter of seconds and are sometimes called “American Chameleons”. Of the scores of different species found in the West Indies, Anolis scriptus scriptus is found only in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
