Spiney Cactus - This is our most common variety of Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia dillenii), or Pear Bush. It can be found growing in almost every habitat in our Islands. Cooked flower buds taste like okra. The ripe, red fruit can be eaten raw or baked, and can also be made into jellies and wine. All parts of this thorny plant are useful for food or medicines.
