The Clean Up Campaign Continues
GRAND TURK, Turks and Caicos Islands; Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 - The environmental enhancement project carried out by the Environment Enhancement Committee in Grand Turk is an ongoing process, and to date, several areas of the capital have received partial or limited collection of bulk solid waste. The continuation of enhancement efforts will see a final stream of collections within communities throughout Grand Turk.

Environmental Enhancement Committee L to R: Jamell Robinson-Disaster Management, Winston Quelch-Red Cross, Sharlene Cartwight-Robinson-Kiwanis, Donna McFarlane-Environmental Health Department, Mary Lightbourne-Tourist Board, Dwayne Simmons-Disaster Management, Alicia Mullings-Environmental Health Department, Raymond Grant-H.M Prison, Peggy Been-Red Cross, Brian Been-Tourist Board.

The Environmental Health Department wishes to advise all residents of Overback, Crab Tree Corner, The Quarry and Pond Street areas that all remaining debris are to be placed at an accessible point for collection on Thursday June 11, 2009 between the hours of 9am and 5 pm.

It is strongly recommended that residents make use of the final opportunity to rid their properties of bulk solid wastes, or other types that may cause damage to property and or health in the event of high wind speeds. The Environmental Health Department will not be collecting any debris after Thursday in these communities and owners or occupiers will be responsible for collection, transport and proper disposal.

The last day for collection of debris in the communities of West Road, Hospital Road and Godette Alotment will take place today, Wednesday June 10.

The Grand Turk community is asked to tune into Radio Turks and Caicos with regard to collection dates in other communities.
