JOB TITLE:ENVIRONMENT EDUCATION OFFICER
REPORTS TO:DEPUTY DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR
MAIN PURPOSE
Overall responsibility to provide and raise environmental awareness to all sectors of the Turks and Caicos society so as to contribute to the effective management of the Natural Resources of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
MAIN DUTIES
Reporting to the Deputy Director/Director of the DECR, through appropriate line management, the Environment Education Officer is expected to perform the following duties: (list is not exhaustive)
ÖPrepare an annual work programme outlining educational activities proposed for the year and periodic progress reports. This should include but is not limited to the preparation of information for environmental days in the calendar year.
ÖTo be responsible for the development and implementation of the DECR educational plan.
ÖConduct environmental education outreach programmes and workshops for the residents of the Turks and Caicos Islands which includes public presentations and lectures.
ÖProduce and present public awareness information on the environment to all sectors of society within the Turks and Caicos Islands. This should include but is not limited to posters, bookmarks, fliers etc.
ÖAssume responsibility for the organization and delivery of annual Junior Parks Warden Program.
ÖCoordinate the further training of DECR staffs.
ÖTo assist with the implementation of topics related to the environment in the primary and secondary schools’ curriculum in collaboration with the Department of Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ÖMust have a Bachelor and/or Masters Degree in Environmental Studies or some other related Science education field.
ÖA minimum of three years experience in a related field
ÖMust have good communication skills. Teaching experience will be an asset.
ÖExpertise in Microsoft, Publisher/Abode Illustrator/Corel Draw
ÖAbility to swim will be an asset
ÖScuba Certification will be an asset (or willing to undergo Certification)
ÖA valid Driver’s License.
SALARY$26,940 - $29,640 PER ANNUM
