| Rock Iguana Found on Grand Turk |
A TCI Rock Iguana that was previously housed at the Crab Tree Corner Park in Grand Turk had escaped for some time due to the temporary closure and ultimate restructuring of the parks in Grand Turk. The DECR received a call on Monday July 6 , 2009 from a couple residing in Breezy Brae, that there was an iguana in their backyard under some pieces of ply.
Jodie Johnson, officers Kyle Williams and Mario Smith, the occupants of the house and beach security officer Jonathon Torres, safely captured the iguana and identified it as the one that had escaped. He was placed in a cage and remained in the DECR office where he was fed and watered until his release on Monday July 13, 2009 with the help of the Junior Park Wardens participants on Long Cay sanctuary.
