On June 11-12th, 2009 nine DECR officers in Provo were trained by Dr. Glenn Gerber, renowned Iguana expert, on the basic aspects of Iguana monitoring. Three students from the Mississippi State University had assisted Dr. Gerber in showing the best way to catch Iguanas, handling Iguanas in captivity, taking important measurements, extracting blood samples for DNA analysis and putting bead tags and PIT tags. The DECR Officers are expected to conduct Iguana Monitoring while doing their regular patroling works in Cays known to have Iguanas.
